A method for calculating the discovery time of ballistic missiles detected by an infrared early warning satellite

To determine the high dynamic change characteristics of relative space position between a ballistic missile and an early warning satellite during detection, centric motion model are established first. Then, geometric relationship is presented. Based on gray body radiation characteristics, calculation infrared in boost phase established. method detection discrimination considering visibility proposed. Finally, simulation key factor comparison analysis carried out with typical satellite, detector, data. Validation results show that this can quickly accurately calculate discovery time flight height missiles detected by satellites. The validation reveal trajectory bands have significant effect time, 2.7 µm band earlier than 4.3 for same trajectory.
